The time to activate my vision is now. It’s time to pursue the dream in my heart. For years, I’ve been talking about traveling to the east coast; but, something always seemed to interfere with my plans.   Last fall, I decided to stop talking and take action.  I set a date for my trip and started a separate savings account.  I mentioned the trip to my best friend and she wanted to participate.  That worked out for a couple of reasons: it allowed me to travel with my BFF, as well as, split the cost of the trip.

This trip was the first time in 31 years that I was taking a vacation that centered around me.  In the past, my vacations were always family vacations with lots of planned kid activities; so, I was looking forward to a vacation with no set itinerary.

We stayed 4 days in Martha Vineyard. From there, we flew to New York City.  From New York City, we took the train to Philadelphia. And, from Philadelphia, we drove to Cape May, NJ.  Planes, trains and automobiles. I had the time of my life.

For two weeks, I was in a city with a waterfront, a river or an ocean. You see, I live in the desert; so being around the water for two weeks was so relaxing and calming.  It gave me time to think and reflect on my dreams and/or life vision.  When I returned home, I felt recharged. I was focused and ready to move forward with my plans.  But the first week, I was exhausted.  I couldn’t focus, and all I wanted to do when I finished working my 9-5 was take a nap.

The effect of my vacation were starting to fade, and I had to work to stay motivated.  Then it happened. I was researching how to plan a trip to Europe when I came across a blog post on The Happy Black Woman’s website.  Although the blog post contained information about her travels to Europe, it was primarily related to manifesting, activating your vision and putting yourself in the environment of what you want.

At that moment, it clicked. That’s why I was so happy and motivated for those two weeks.  I was living my best life. I was doing what I always said I would do, and it felt good. It felt good to be in control of my time, and I wanted that feeling to last.

If you have been reading my blog posts, then you know that I’ve been struggling to find a focal point for my blog.  As a result, I’ve lacked consistency. In addition, I’ve been on information overload.  There are just so many ideas in my head related to helping other people live their best life, managing your thoughts, my retirement, entrepreneurship, multiple sources of income, traveling and my own happiness.  But, the road trip and HBW’s blog post provided some clarity. Both made me realize that I’m in a season of self-discovery.

I have decided to document this journey of self-discovery on my blog.  This week, I’m creating a road map. The road map will reference my starting point (self-assessment|where am I now) and my destination (who do I want to be). Afterwards, I fill in the steps that I need to take to reach my destination.

Are you living the life that you envisioned? If not, what action will you take to change that?

The Happy Black Woman’s quote – “Because once you stop waiting and start taking action, you send a powerful message to the universe that you’re ready to receive”.
